What we do

Lending for every stage — and the tricky bits in between

Seven specialties, one approach: understand your position, shop the whole panel, and explain everything without the jargon.

First Home Buyers

From deposit to keys — government schemes, lenders mortgage insurance, and a plan you actually understand.

First home buying →

Property Investors

Structure, equity release and serviceability strategy to keep your portfolio growing — not stalling at loan two.

Lenders read business income very differently. We match your financials to the policy that reads them best.

Self-employed lending →

Families Upgrading

Buy-then-sell or sell-then-buy? Bridging, guarantees and timing — managed so the move doesn't manage you.

We shop the panel

The panel

50+ lenders. One application.

Major banks, regionals and specialist non-bank lenders — each with different policies and appetites. That breadth is what turns a "no" from your bank into a "yes" somewhere better.

Ross Sergi

Senior Finance Specialist & Director — 10+ years arranging lending for Newcastle and Lake Macquarie locals.

Ross built Ancora Finance on a simple idea: borrowers deserve a broker who holds steady when things get complicated. Self-employed income, fund structures, tight timelines — the scenarios that make banks nervous are the ones he does best.

"Ancora" is Italian for anchor — firm & secure. That's the job.

Good questions

Frequently asked

What does a mortgage broker cost?
For most home loans, nothing. Brokers are paid a commission by the lender you settle with, and we disclose every commission in writing before you commit. If a fee ever applies — for example on some commercial deals — you'll know the exact amount up front. Transparent fees, no surprises.
Why use a broker instead of going straight to my bank?
Your bank can only offer its own products. We compare options from a panel of 50+ bank and non-bank lenders, each with different rates, policies and appetites — which matters most when your situation is anything other than vanilla.
I'm self-employed — can I still get a home loan?
Yes. Lenders assess self-employed income very differently — some want two years of financials, others accept one, and low-doc options exist for strong applicants. Matching your circumstances to the right lender's policy is a core specialty here. More on self-employed lending.
How much deposit do I need to buy in Newcastle or Lake Macquarie?
Many lenders accept 5% genuine savings plus costs, and eligible first home buyers can use the Home Guarantee Scheme to avoid lenders mortgage insurance. Family guarantee options can reduce the cash needed even further. The right answer depends on your circumstances — a strategy call will map it quickly.
What is a free strategy call?
A no-obligation conversation with Ross about where you are and where you want to get to — buying, refinancing, investing or restructuring. You'll leave with a clear picture of your options and next steps, whether or not you proceed.
Can my SMSF borrow to buy property?
In many cases yes, through a limited recourse borrowing arrangement (LRBA). Only a subset of lenders offer SMSF loans and policies differ significantly. We arrange the lending side and work alongside your accountant and financial adviser. More on SMSF lending.
